Tembo Carvers is a dedicated handmade wood carving centre located in the heart of Arusha, Tanzania — at Culture, Kisongo. For over sixteen years, our master carvers have shaped raw African hardwood into extraordinary works of art, preserving the ancient craft traditions of East Africa for the world to cherish.

From the iconic silhouette of a giraffe to the spiritual depth of a traditional Maasai warrior — every piece leaves our workshop bearing the marks of the human hand that made it. No two pieces are ever identical. Every carving is an original.

Meet the Founder

The Master
Behind the Craft

Daudi Ndeka is the founder, master carver, and driving spirit behind Tembo Carvers. Born and raised in Tanzania, Daudi dedicated his life to the ancient art of African wood carving — mastering techniques passed down through generations while continuously developing his own unique style and vision.

Under his leadership, Tembo Carvers has grown from a small workshop into one of Arusha's most respected carving centres — training young artisans, preserving traditional craft, and producing pieces that are treasured by collectors across the globe.

Standing beside one of his most ambitious works — a life-size elephant carved entirely by hand — Daudi embodies the philosophy of Tembo Carvers: no vision is too large, no detail too small.
